Adventures in Polebridge

Actual border line between the US and Canada! I had absolutely no idea there was an actual LINE.

Polebridge is absolutely gorgeous in the Fall time. Well, okay, it's beautiful in every season, but I love Fall so much, so.... haha

I'm still finding it hard to believe that it's already a week into October. Work has been treating me well. At times, the many hours can seem pretty hectic, but the paycheck makes all those early and late hours worth it! I haven't mentioned anything up till now, but I am upgrading to a new camera! I have been putting money down on it for the past three weeks or so and looking forward to making the last paycheck by the time my birthday comes around. It is a Nikon D3100-- it's gorgeous, folks.

Off for two days! Hallelujah! I'll finally be able to calm down and relax-- take long walks in the Fall sun with my dogs, catch up on some piano playing, and, of course schoolwork. But I'm really surprised at how fast I was able to catch up from last week's 5-day shift in one day. Busy, busy, busy, is my life right now. Call me weird if I say I enjoy it...

Talk to you all sometime soon, I hope. Hope your Fall is as nice as mine.

Fall's First Sunrise

Work has kept me quite busy and tired. But I am definitely getting into the swing of things and actually feeling comfortable with it. I cannot be more thankful with the great people I have been blessed to work with.

My dad had to take his last week of vacation this week so I was able to get three days off work. Five days in total I was off work and I can tell you right now it was wonderful. Despite my allergies wearing me out.

Fall is my favorite season, even though I get such a bad head cold. There's something so amazing about the smell of the falling leaves.
Last Saturday I woke up before the sun even began to rise-- I just couldn't stand being "indoors" much longer so I took off for the back field. As you can see, the sun rise was spectacular. Notice all of the forest fire smoke in the air over the mountains, creating such a gold- and pink-ish look. Our valley has been hazy for the past several weeks and we are in need of rain. Beautiful weather, just too much dust!

So for the last adventure of the MacLennan Family Vacation of 2012, we stayed in a cabin up in the mountains and out in the goonies. Seriously, no electricity, no running water... An outhouse, people. No, I'm used to outhouses... Sort of.
Anyways, more pictures to follow. I'm not sure when, though, as I'm heading back to work bright and early in the morning. Prayers would be greatly appreciated as I am not feeling very well and nervous about being too tired. God is my strength. I shouldn't forget that.

As July folds into August

It's amazing how fast this year has gone by. As the months are folding up like pieces of paper in front of my eyes, I see more clearly that this one birthday is going to be something entirely different from all the other birthdays I've had before. As I sit back and look around me on those cool, summer evenings with dusk bringing in the dew, all of us gathered in the living room watching The Walton's, a bowl of ice cream in my hand, I thank God for all of the blessings He has given me and my family. Then I realize how very often I don't take the time to thank Him for all that He has done in our lives.
There are moments where I feel so grateful and overwhelmed; even on those rides in the old truck, the windows down, the classical music cranked up, smiles on everyone's faces as we roll down the freeway... Even if it is a ride to the dump, it will still be a fond memory to me.
And there are those moments spent watching the sunset, listening to the rain, hail, thunder and lightning with all the lights out, my little brother getting all giddy with every streak of lightning...
Yep, I cannot be more glad right now with my life. Why, because everything is "just fine?" No, not everything is picture-perfect in my life right now-- there are also those moments of hurt and frustration, but it is through those hard times that help me see the good times.
As I read God's Word late into the night, so caught up in every word I just can't pull away until my eyes begin to droop, there is a peaceful knowing--not a feeling--in my soul that God will never forsake me.
And as the next three months fold up, and fear of the unknown future ahead of me begins, I keep grounded on not only this one verse (below), but every verse of the Bible, keeping firmly on my own two feet, standing for the Word of God and nothing else.
"lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen." Matthew 28:20b, KJV
